Leadership Forum in England
Currently within England there are a number of related projects working to create an effective relationship between healthcare chaplaincy and NHS England.
For the 2013/2014 NHS Chaplaincy programme, the Multi Faith Group for Healthcare Chaplaincy (MFGHC) has been given a mandate by Professor Field of NHS England to act as the Chaplaincy interface with NHS England through the Equalities and Health Inequalities Team. The programme includes: -
- NHS funding to faith communities
- Funding for the Appointments Advisors Panel
- Coordination of the revision of 2003 Chaplaincy/Spiritual Care Guidelines (Completed 2015)
Recognising that no one group possesses all the necessary expertise to be able to represent or speak on behalf of working chaplains or the chaplaincy profession stakeholder groups, including UKBHC, have agreed to have monthly conference calls and three monthly face to face meetings. It is intended that this meeting will become a 'Chaplaincy Leadership Forum' to advise and support NHS England. The Terms of Reference for this forum can be downloaded by clicking on the link.
Reports of meetings and updates on progress are posted below.
